3.1 Information you give us directly

• Contact form submissions: your name, work email, company, phone (optional), and the content of your message.
• Email correspondence: anything you choose to share when you email us.
• Engagement records: if you become a client, we keep contracts, invoices, and project-related communications.

3.2 Information collected automatically

• Server logs: IP address, user-agent string, referring URL, request path, and timestamp — retained for a maximum of 30 days for security and diagnostics.

• Analytics: if you consent to non-essential cookies, we may use privacy-friendly analytics that record aggregate page visits and referrers. We do not use behavioral advertising trackers.

3.3 Information we do not collect

We do not collect payment card information on the Site — invoices are handled off-site through our finance provider. We do not sell mailing lists, and we do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone under 16.

We use the information we collect to:

• Service providers: email hosting (Google Workspace), invoicing (QuickBooks Online), analytics (if enabled), and website hosting. Each provider is bound by a written data-processing agreement.
• Professional advisors: our attorneys, accountants, and insurers, when needed for the running of the business.
• Legal requirements: if required by law, subpoena, or court order, or to protect the rights, property, or safety of GitProject, our clients, or others.
• Business transfer: in the unlikely event of a merger, acquisition, or asset sale, information may transfer to the successor — we will notify affected clients in advance.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not share it with advertising networks.

6. Cookies and analytics

The Site uses a small number of cookies. Essential cookies are always active because the Site cannot function without them. Analytics cookies only load after you accept them in the cookie banner. Full details, including cookie names and durations, are in our Cookie Policy.

7. Data retention

• Contact form messages: kept for 24 months after the last correspondence, then deleted.
• Client engagement records: kept for 7 years after contract termination for tax and legal purposes, then deleted.
• Server access logs: kept for a maximum of 30 days.
• Cookie consent record: kept in your own browser for 12 months.

8. How we protect information

We follow reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect the information we hold. Employee laptops use full-disk encryption; production systems require multi-factor authentication; access to client information is limited to the team members working on the engagement. No system on the public internet can be guaranteed 100% secure, but we take our responsibilities seriously.

9. Your rights & choices

Depending on where you live, you may have the right to:

• Access the personal information we hold about you.
• Ask us to correct information you believe is inaccurate.
• Ask us to delete information we no longer need to keep.
• Object to or restrict certain uses of your information.
• Withdraw consent for optional processing (such as analytics cookies).
• Lodge a complaint with your local data-protection authority.

California residents (CCPA/CPRA): you have the right to know what personal information we collect, to request deletion, and to opt out of any "sale" or "share" of personal information — we do not sell or share personal information as those terms are defined.

10. Children's privacy

GitProject is based in the United States. If you visit the Site from outside the U.S., your information will be transferred to and processed in the U.S., where privacy laws may differ from those in your country. By using the Site you consent to that transfer.

We may update this policy from time to time. When we make material changes, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top and, if you're an active client, we will notify you by email. Continued use of the Site after changes take effect constitutes acceptance of the revised policy.
